Ever read an article or book about fake prophets? What did you learn from it? Did it talk about someone you know or heard of?
For years, adversaries of Islam have targeted it with numerous propaganda campaigns.
These misconceptions are intentionally created to mislead potential followers of Islam and turn them against it. Some of the false beliefs revolve around the credibility of Prophet Muhammad's prophethood. There are numerous critics of Islam who assert that Muhammad p.b.uh. is not a true prophet. Nevertheless, this statement is inaccurate. In this article, we will address this matter.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final prophet sent by Allah.
Throughout history, Allah has sent approximately 124,000 prophets, with Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) being the last one to be sent. Detractors of Islam have consistently smeared Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.), deceiving the public into believing he is a false prophet by citing verses from the Bible. For example:
> And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:4
> For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Matthew 24:24
Unfortunately, neither medieval nor modern Christians have succeeded in demonstrating to us that Muhammad p.b.u.h. is indeed a false prophet as indicated by the two verses above. In the first verse, it is mentioned that false prophets will appear in the name of Jesus. Those who assert that Muhammad p.b.u.h. is a false prophet have never provided any evidence of Muhammad (s.a.w.) preaching or acting in the name of Jesus.

Instead, Muhammad (s.a.w.) preached and acted in the Name of Allah. This was the initial command given to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by angel Gabriel - to recite, read, or proclaim in the name of Allah. This crucial point demonstrates that Muhammad p.b.u.h. is not a false prophet. False prophets, according to the verse, will convey, preach, or do anything in the name of Jesus. Since Muhammad p.b.u.h. did not preach anything in the name of Jesus, he cannot be considered a false prophet.
The second verse highlights the characteristic of a false prophet as one who displays great signs and wonders. Interestingly, those who label Muhammad as a false prophet are the same individuals who assert that he performed no miracles. It is common for many Christians to challenge Muslims to present miracles attributed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), assuming he performed none. Therefore, it is illogical to consider Muhammad p.b.u.h. a false prophet if he did not perform any miracles.
False prophets are expected to demonstrate great signs and wonders, according to Jesus. Therefore, if Muhammad p.b.u.h. indeed did not perform any miracles, he cannot be classified as a false prophet.
